SNOB - A SNOMED Browser
Introduction
SNOB Server is a SNOMED Terminology Server that runs on top of a SNOB database and serves client applications with SNOMED content. SNOB Server communicates over TCP/IP and sends its replies as XML fragments based on ClaML. SNOB Server uses an xml file (snobsrv.xml) to find the SNOB database, read how to adapt this file to your situation.
This means that when you build your own client application you can focus on the logic within your application and don't have to worry about importing and storing SNOMED. Your client application just retrieves SNOMED concepts from a SNOB Server. This SNOB Server may be running on the same machine, on another machine on your LAN or anywhere else on the internet. A SNOB Server will be able to serve a small number of client applications at the same time.
New functionality will be added on an 'as needed basis'. In other words, why add functionality, if it has no immediate use. Apart from that, new functionality will only be added when a requesting user is willing to finance it. (The development of SNOB has been solely financed by myself, which amounts to more than €100.000 at the moment.)
So if you are missing functions in SNOB, please mail what you are missing and I can mail you a quote how much it will cost to add that functionality. It is open for discussion if this new functionality will be available to other users or only for you.
