SNOB - A SNOMED Browser

Manual

Lexicon

SNOB is able to use a lexicon, containing all words present in SNOMED descriptions. You can either make your own lexicon, or download the sources for a lexicon. In case you want to build your own lexicon, just select Options-Lexicon, select the desired translation language (e.g. your native language) and press Start new lexicon.

SNOB stores the lexicon in UTF8, which should allow translations in any language. If your language is not currently present in SNOB, please let me know.

The lexicon is used to improve the search results, but can also be used as a translation tool. Here is an example of a dutch translation. And here is the start of a french translation.

If you have selected to translate descriptions using the lexicon (via Options-Settings-InfoPane), SNOB shows the translated descriptions prefixed by the ISO639 code of the relevant language (see below). If the translated description is clicked, the add description window opens and you can add the description to the database. These descriptions can later be exported to file.
