Importing SNOMED
Where can I download the SNOMED sources?
Start SNOB and create a new database using File-New, next import the contents of the SNOMED Tabular Tables using File-Import. Specify the source directory containing these files and press Start to import the contents. When the import is finished you can start browsing the SNOMED terminology.
Tip:Starting from version 2.00.00, it is possible to import multiple editions of SNOMED CT into the same database. You may then choose to display the changelog of a concept in the info pane. Make sure that you import the same content from all editions and check the option Inactivate relationships in the database that are not present in the current import files.
When you are importing the SNOMED Core, extensions and subsets and then index the contents, this may take some time (build timings). But you will only have to do this once for each release.
During the import, SNOB displays the contents of the log file. When the import is done, you can view the contents of this log file in a text editor.
Using File-Properties, SNOB writes an import script file containing the files that are imported into the database. Later you can select this import script file and have SNOB import all files into a new database.
The properties window displays some statistics about the currently opened database, click More... to see more statistics.
