Creating a French lexicon
This page explains how to translate SNOMED CT into French. (Make sure, you have downloaded the sources for a lexicon.)
Start SNOB
Open your SNOMED database (or create one using the SNOMED Tabular Tables)
Select Options-Lexicon, set the Import/Export directory, select the Translation language French and press Import

Close the Lexicon Manager
Select Tools-Lexicon. I have already translated a couple of English words into French. Click E in the first column, and A in the second column. The first lemma is ear, with the French translation oreille. I've also added the translation of eye (oeil), the translation of Disease, the translation of acute (aigu) and the translation of of (de). Notice, that there is a masculine and feminine form of the French word aigu.

When you look at the English ear, you'll notice that the French word oreille is a feminine noun. The French word oeil (for eye) on the other hand is a masculine noun.
In the French language, the gender of an adjective follows the gender of the noun. Also the word order, usually adjective-noun in English, is reversed in French. When you look at the French translation of the concept Acute disease, it is translated as Maladie aigue. (Also notice that the feminine form of aigu is used.)
