SNOB - A SNOMED Browser

Download MetaModel

NB: The IHTSDO prefers to call this the Concept Model. You may find a mix of both terms on this website.

Optionally, SNOB loads a meta model containing allowed relationships. You can use this to check if a SNOMED CT release contains relationships that would not be allowed by the meta model (the equivalent IHTSDO artefact is called machine readable concept model).

Jeremy Rogers and NHS CfH have created a meta model, which can be downloaded below under the following licence terms:
NHS CfH retains copyright as licensor, but licensees can distribute and copy the file sct_metamodel_20080404.txt without restriction. Source code is provided under Apache 2. The data is provided 'As is' and no warranty is expressed or implied. NHS CfH will not be liable for any losses arising directly or indirectly from use of the data.

There is a different set of rules depending on whether you’re checking the links in the distributed release, or the links in a candidate post-coordinated expression. The files can be placed anywhere on your computer, then use Options-Settings-MetaModel and point SNOB to it. Click the links below to download the rule sets:

xres_mrcm-distributiondata_core-snapshot_INT_20091001.txt
xres_mrcm-postcoordination_core-snapshot_INT_20091001.txt

The metamodel file is an exact transcription of the tables in the Technical Reference Guide Appendix J January 2008: 166-171. This is slightly different from the July 2007 version.
